A raft made of branches and plants had been adorned with torches and a heap of gold and emeralds had been placed on its center.
Who wouldn’t want to go to Paris? Or New York? Two destinations that come to mind when thinking about where to go. The City of Lights? Or the City that Never Sleeps?
But what if there was more? Other interesting places? How about a trip off the beaten path, through the backdoor?
A few years ago when I started planning and researching my trips, I was looking for podcasts about travel in iTunes, I stumbled upon a podcast called “Travel with Rick Steves”.
And it turned out that Rick was into the kind of cultural travel I like!

Just wanted to make a very short post to bring some attention to the fact that to me, travel would not be the same without my iPod, which of course, is one of Steve’s most revolutionary products.
I got my first iPod in 2006 but have been using iTunes since it came out. My first iPod was a 60GB iPod video and it came with me to my trips, I got tons of free audio guides, podcasts and iTunesU content to listen to while on travel!
From BC ancient fortresses in the last post to AD 21st century architecture in one week! How amazing is that!
Because when we travel we want to see it all, right? Experience it all! See the old and the new and be equally amazed by both.
Such is the case with modern building architecture that takes man to new heights and it does seem that recently the race for the tallest-building-in-the-world title has been on.
What do you think about when you hear the word ‘Babylon’? Translation software? Some old biblical city? A rock band? A town in New York? Or something related to the Rastafarian manifesto? How about all of the above?
But originally, Babylon was a magnificent city founded in 1867 BC by the Acadians in Ancient Mesopotamia. (So way way way before Greeks and Romans, before Jesus, before running water?).
